The New York Knicks delivered a strong statement performance on the road. They completely dismantled the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals to complete a 4-0 series sweep. This victory marks the Knicks’ first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999.
New York jumped out to a massive lead early and never looked back. They built a 37-point halftime advantage and the game was in hand. The Knicks’ balanced offensive attack, elite defense, and depth proved too much for a Cavaliers team that struggled to find answers the entire Eastern Conference Finals series.
Knicks Head Coach Mike Brown has now taken the Knicks to the NBA Finals in his first year at the helm. Brown made a statement postgame about how well the Knicks played throughout the contest.
“Our guys played great. You’re in the conference finals and score 65 points off of offensive rebounds and fast break points. I don’t know if I’ve seen that at this point of the year. We wanted to push the pace.”
Push the pace is exactly what they did and that led to a Knicks blowout victory. Let’s take a look at the top individual contributors for the Knicks.
Key Knicks Contributions
– Karl-Anthony Towns was a force inside and out, finishing with 19 points and 14 rebounds. He was flat out dominant in the Knicks series clinching blowout victory.
– OG Anunoby scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out four assists.
– Landry Shamet scored 16 points and dished out two assists off the bench.
– Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson each chipped in 15 points. Brunson earned Eastern Conference Finals MVP honors for the series. He averaged 25.5 points and 7.8 assists in the four-game sweep.
The Knicks now await the winner of the Western Conference Finals (Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs). They will be preparing for their first NBA Finals in over 25 years. They are not just going to be happy to be there. They are looking to win the whole thing.
