The Sixers have officially signed guard Grant Riller to a two-way contract, the team announces.
Riller previously was on a two-way contract with the Hornets last season, splitting time between the NBA franchise and the Greensboro Swarm of the G League. For Charlotte, he appeared in seven games, averaging 2.6 points per contest.
The 6-foot-2 guard was the No. 56 overall pick in the 2020 draft. He’ll wear No. 5 for the Sixers this upcoming season.
Aaron Henry holds Philadelphia’s other two-way deal.
What’s Going on with Charles Bassey?
Second-round pick Charles Bassey and the Sixers have yet to reach an agreement on a long-term deal and the center plans on signing his one-year, non-guaranteed tender from the team, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The tender, which is required to be offered by the team if a franchise wants to retain a second-round pick’s rights, will pay him the minimum salary.
Philadelphia currently has 14 players under standard contracts and if Bassey signs the tender, he’ll be No. 15. However, the move could force the team to waive him and he’d become an unrestricted free agent. In such an event, Bassey wouldn’t be able to sign a two-way contract with other clubs this upcoming season, as Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors notes.
