NBA Rumors: Schroder, CP3, Allen, Walker, Celtics

Lakers guard Dennis Schroder drives to the basket vs. the Suns.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Dennis Schroder removed his affiliation with the team on his personal Instagram account. Given that the Lakers’ season is still alive, as they’re facing elimination in Game 6 of their first-round series against the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night, this is very odd timing.

The New York Knicks and Miami Heat will reportedly be in on Schroder this offseason, according to Evan Massey of NBA Analysis Network.

“I’ve been hearing a ton of (Dennis) Schroder to New York talks, but I’m not sold that will end up happening,” a league executive said. “Miami is another team to keep a close eye on. They are going to want an upgrade in the back-court and Schroder seems like a perfect fit if the two sides can agree on price.”

It has been previously reported that Schroder wants to be a primary playmaker in a big market on a lucrative contract.

More NBA Rumors

  • Chris Paul is expected to decline his player option this summer, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. He has been linked to the Knicks in the past, but given his success with the Suns this season, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him lock in a long-term deal to stay in the desert.

  • A scout told Jason Lloyd of The Athletic that Jarrett Allen is the only sure-fire starter on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Allen put up averages of 13.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 51 games with the Cavs this season.

  • The Boston Celtics will look to move Kemba Walker this offseason, according to Brian Robb of Mass Live. Walker struggled to stay healthy this season, and even when he was out there on the court, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.

  • ICYMI: Danny Ainge stepped down from his role of president of basketball operations, as former coach Brad Stevens will assume that role. Check out who the Celtics have on their radar to fill their newly vacant head coaching position.
