The Lakers falling short and the electricity in New York were among the top headlines over the first few nights of the NBA season, though DFS players and those in season-long leagues need to know more than just the front-page news.
Here are some questions and answers from a panel of NBA reporters, highlighting some of the storylines and need-to-know info that you may have missed after a wild start to the season.
How are the Magic utilizing rookie Jalen Suggs? How about Cole Anthony?
Suggs started and scored 10 points on 3-of-14 shooting but he was only in the starting lineup because of Gary Harris‘ being scratched late with a hamstring injury. Suggs could come off the bench once everyone is healthy.
Anthony started and is essentially locked in there. The point guard scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists, as we wrote in the Magic-Spurs recaps.

What did we see from D’Angelo Russell on opening night? Any chance of him returning to peak form?
If he stays healthy, D’Angelo Russell could be in line to replicate his performance from the 2018-19 season. Against the Rockets, he finished with 22 points including four threes and seven assists. With Ricky Rubio out of the picture, his assists should go up, especially with his chemistry with Karl-Anthony Towns. KAT’s presence should also open up opportunities to do some damage scoring the ball inside the paint.

What’s going on with all the Cavs’ big men?
Evan Mobley, who started the opener alongside Lauri Markkanen and Jarrett Allen, could take value away from other Cavs bigs. The 7-foot USC product racked up 17 points and nine boards along with six assists in his NBA debut. It seems it will only go up from here so he could be a valuable addition to your team.

The Wizards have a lot of new parts. How’s the rotation shaking out?
Washington started three newcomers (Spencer Dinwiddie, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma), though it was Montrezl Harrell off the bench who probably had the biggest impact. Harrell wasn’t the first Wizards off the bench (Deni Avdija came into the game for KCP about 6 minutes into it), though the former Clipper efficiently claimed a high usage role (9-for-11 from the field, 22 points) even as coach Wes Unseld Jr. mixed in starters with Harrell and some of the reserves.

Player to trade for/target in waivers?
Try and trade for Pacers rookie Chris Duarte ASAP. He seems promising as he took no time to adjust to NBA basketball, scoring 27 points in his debut (including 6 threes, the most by a Pacers rookie in their NBA debut).
