The Miami Heat front office brought genuine holiday warmth to the youth over at Children’s Village at Lotus House in Overtown. As part of the organization’s School-to-Work program presented by Ticketmaster, Heat staff members paired with students from the renowned shelter to offer mentorship focused on college preparation and future career skills.
The event, held in the newly opened Children’s Village which is part of the Lotus House, featured roundtable discussions where front office employees shared professional insights and encouragement with the youth in attendance. The room was filled with meaningful conversations, laughter, and connection, all under festive touches like Christmas trees that provided the spirit of the holiday season.
Erick Torres, Manager of Social Responsibility for the Miami Heat spoke about his longing for being a part of a program like this when he was a child. And how important it is for the Heat organization to give back to the youth.
“When I was a kid I definitely was not a part of a program like this. I always wanted to be. I was a big fan of this organization but the way we had our print on the community. So ironically I would look for ways I could be involved in the community and get service hour letters. So to be able to do that now for kids is a huge honor that I don’t take lightly. So I think one of the biggest skills we have as a Miami Heat organization is to help folks find their conviction, their passion for whatever flag they wanna fly. And to be able to be a tool in that journey for them. To get better access to education and guidance is a huge honor that we get to do. And we are excited to do that today in prep for the Holiday season.
The Miami Heat continue to embody community commitment through initiatives like this, partnering with organizations such as Ticketmaster to uplift Miami’s youth. For the kids at Children’s Village, the morning delivered not just guidance, but real holiday cheer and hope for brighter futures.
