Injury Updates: AD, Westbrook, Leonard, Aldridge, Dinwiddie

Anthony Davis left Sunday night’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets after re-aggravating his right Achilles tendinosis injury, which caused swelling, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

For now, the Los Angeles Lakers are calling it a right Achilles strain, but Davis will undergo an MRI in Minneapolis on Monday to get official confirmation. An extended absence is possible, as Dr. David Chao told our own Sam Amico.

“I mean, you kind of learn a lot from the MRI, so kind of just waiting on that,” Davis said after the game. “Obviously, the doctors don’t want to rule out anything and then it’s something, or say it’s something, then it’s not. But they say everything looks good, but you still want the MRI just to make sure.”

Let’s hope for the best for Davis as we take a look at more injury notes from around the league.

More Injury Notes

  • Russell Westbrook is not on the injury report ahead of the Wizards-Rockets matchup, signaling that he’ll play in his first back-to-back of the season. The Wizards are without Ish Smith while Garrison Mathews (right quad) and Anthony Gill (stomach) are questionable to play on Monday, per the team.

  • Ty Lue is unsure of when Kawhi Leonard is going to return to the lineup, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. The two-time Finals MVP was sidelined with a left lower leg contusion on Sunday night.

  • There’s no timetable for LaMarcus Aldridge to return to the lineup, according to Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News. Aldridge is still rehabbing his hip injury and isn’t deemed close to be ready for action. Gregg Popovich also added that it’s not that simple for someone to rejoin a team in the middle of a road trip during the COVID era.

  • Spencer Dinwiddie recently posted a video on his Instagram account of him working out with a caption saying he’s 10 weeks ahead of schedule. However, Steve Nash said that he doesn’t want to put any unrealistic pressure on the 6’5″ guard, and his main priority is to focus on Dinwiddie’s long-term health, according to Alex Schiffer of The Athletic.

  • ICYMI: Blake Griffin will sit out for the Pistons while the franchise searches for a trade.
