Bradley Beal has not requested a trade from the Wizards and GM Tommy Sheppard indicated to FortyEightMinutes and other Washington media on Wednesday that he has received no indication that the shooting guard will do so.
Sheppard explained that he remains in close contact with Beal just as he always has.
“The process of communication with Bradley is the same as it’s always been…the outside noise is just noise,” Sheppard said.
Sources told FortyEightMinutes over the weekend that Beal and the franchise remained aligned and the front office was preparing for the offseason as if Beal would remain on the roster.
Beal is eligible for an extension this offseason, though the front office isn’t worried about whether or not he inks a deal. Sheppard & Co. are aware of the financial benefits Beal has by waiting until next offseason to sign a new five-year deal (Beal can net roughly $54 million by waiting) and they intend to allow the shooting guard to be in the best position financially should he continue to remain committed to the franchise.
