The Golden State Warriors have sent a scout to Australia to keep an eye on the progress of second-round pick Justinian Jessup, per Olgun Uluc of ESPN.
Jessup is a 6-foot-7 shooting guard and was selected by the Warriors with the 51st overall pick of the 2020 draft. He is a native of Longmont, Colo., and played his college ball at Boise State. He is currently playing for the Illawarra Hawks of Australia’s NBL.
“During his time in Australia, the scout — who’s currently in mandatory hotel quarantine, sources said — will also be conducting the regular duties of his job, evaluating talent across the NBL,” Uluc reported. “He’ll only be authorized to attend Hawks practices that would be open to all scouts, per NBA guidelines.”
Jessup is considered one of the top outside shooters in Australia, Uluc added. That would make him a natural fit for the perimeter-oriented Warriors.
Sources recently told FortyEightMinutes that the Warriors also have an interest in Cavs small forward Cedi Osman. They have also been linked to Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo and several other players who could offer some immediate help in the backcourt.
