Suns-Magic Preview: Phoenix on Upset Alert or in Bounce Back Spot?

Shyam Ramachandran by Shyam Ramachandran

Reading Time: 3 mins read

On Tuesday, the NBA’s winningest team from Phoenix will travel to Orlando to take on the NBA’s losingest squad.

The Suns are currently the league’s lone 50-win team and have the opportunity to make the Magic the league’s first 50-loss team in Tuesday’s tilt. Chances are Phoenix should handle business as per usual, even with their star point guard Chris Paul continuing to be sidelined for an extended period of time.

On top of that, Devin Booker has been picking up the slack in the backcourt, averaging 28.3 points, 8.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds since the all-star break, but has missed the last three straight games after being placed in the league’s health and safety protocols.

Suns-Magic Odds

  • Spread: Suns -6.5 (-110)
  • Total: 221.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Magic +190
  • Odds: PointsBet

Booker and Johnson will join Paul on the sidelines for the next two games at least as Pheonix has a back-to-back against the Magic and Miami Heat respectively.

Orlando has shown signs of promise at times and although the team is going to be on the outside looking in come postseason time, there’s a lot of promise for the years to come. This remainder of the regular season is going to be interesting, especially with Markelle Fultz back in the lineup averaging 9.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds through three games this season. The former No. 1 overall pick is yet to see his first start, but he has been efficient in the limited playing time he has gotten.

Perhaps a potential upset against Phoenix could spark a bit of morale and confidence in this Orlando squad to play upset against some teams in the playoff picture. Meanwhile, for Phoenix, a loss to the Bucks in a Finals rematch seemed expected but if this team wanted a legitimate shot at a potential bounce-back win, Orlando is the perfect opponent prior to facing the top-seeded Heat on Wednesday…
