Rumblings about Bradley Beal wanting out of Washington continue to persist with Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report passing along that Beal is considering whether to request a trade prior to the NBA Draft next week.
Yet, considering vs. executing a trade request are two drastically different scenarios and, as we reported on Friday, Beal and the Wizards remained aligned. Could things change? Certainly, though Washington is preparing for the offseason as if Beal and Russell Westbrook will both continue to be on the roster.
Back when Beal signed his extension in 2019, the organization vowed not to trade him to any destination he didn’t want to go and that remains the case. As Fischer notes, the shooting guard doesn’t have a list of preferred destinations should it get to that point, though teams in position to seriously compete for a title would be in an advantageous position.
The Sixers are among the teams that could offer Beal a desirable situation. Daryl Morey & Co. have been monitoring the situation for quite some time and with Ben Simmons, they have the ability to put together an enticing package whether that means offering Simmons to Washington or dealing him to a third team to bring in whatever assets/players the Wizards have their eyes on.
Philadelphia isn’t the only team keeping a close eye on the situation. The Warriors’ stars are reportedly attempting to persuade their front office to land Beal and other teams, such as the Celtics and Heat have long been linked to the shooting guard.
The Wizards are aware of Beal’s market but like most front offices, they evaluate a plethora of scenarios both in real-time as well as years in advance to be ready for any situation.
