Let’s take a look at some of the latest NBA Trade Rumors:
- Ben Simmons not wanting to play in front of Sixers fans is a “factor” in him requesting a trade, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (h/t The NBA Central). “He doesn’t want to be in front of those fans…I don’t think he intends to ever show his face there again,” Windhorst said on SiriusXNBA.
- The starting point in Simmons trade negotiations between the Sixers and Wolves would be D’Angelo Russell,Bally Sports’ Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson hears. Minnesota is not along in their pursuit of Simmons. Cleveland, Toronto, San Antonio, and Denver are among the franchises with interest in the three-time All-Star.
- Former Wolves GM Gersson Rosas, who was recently dismissed by the organization, “worked feverishly” to get Simmons, as within the front office believed he’d be the missing piece for Minnesota. It’s unclear how much interest Interim GM Sachin Gupta has in Simmons at this time.
- Kevin Love is reportedly still seen as a negative asset around the league because of his contract. Love or Ricky Rubio would likely need to be inserted into any deal that brings Simmons to the Cavaliers because of salary matching requirements, however.
- The Cavaliers don’t have any “untouchables” in trade talks as they continue to pursue Ben Simmons, though Evan Mobley and Darius Garland are unlikely to be dealt. If the Sixers opt to take a pick-heavy deal with Cleveland, they would want no protections on the first-rounder they receive.
- Houston continues to have eyes for Simmons. The franchise reportedly wanted to acquire the All-Star prior to training camp (which is set to begin next week). The Rockets are also shopping John Wall, holding out the veteran until they can find a new home for him.
