The Jazz want to re-sign Mike Conley this offseason and they’ve had conversations around the league about offloading salary in order to create room for the point guard’s new contract, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report hears.
Joe Ingles, who is making $13.04 million this upcoming season, is among the player mentioned the most in trade talks. Other candidates to be moved include Bojan Bogdanovic and Royce O’Neale, per Fischer. It was previously reported that the team was “eager” to trade big man Derrick Favors.
Utah is also open to trading the No. 30 overall pick, which is likely to be a player who doesn’t immediately help the franchise reach its goal of building a true championship around Donovan Mitchell.
More NBA Rumors
- The Lakers are looking for a play-maker to take pressure off of LeBron James and Russell Westbrook is on their radar, per Fischer. It’s going to be difficult for the Lakers to absorb Westbrook’s $44.2 million salary given their cap situation and that may lead Los Angeles to look elsewhere (worth noting that sources tell FortyEightMinutes.com that the Wizards are preparing for the offseason as if Westbrook will remain on the roster).
- The Warriors continue to seek a deal that swaps their two lottery selections for veteran help, though there simply are not many impactful players on the market. The team’s stars reportedly have Bradley Beal atop the list of players they’d like to play alongside next season, yet signs point toward the shooting guard remaining in Washington.
- The Rockets have discussed a deal that would send Eric Gordon to the Pacers, Fischer adds (same piece). Such a trade would see Houston acquire the No. 13 overall pick in the draft while sending the No. 23 selection to Indiana.
- The Pelicans appear to be zeroing in on Kyle Lowry as they look to add established talent, our own Landon Buford relays. New Orleans remains interested in Damian Lillard and should he become truly available, he’d be the priority. However, the most likely scenario is the Pelicans targeting Lowry, who is a free agent this summer.
- The Bulls are looking for a point guard and several players have been linked to Chicago. Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyle Lowry, Dennis Schroder, and Lonzo Ball all have been mentioned as potential targets for the franchise.
