The Celtics have a strong interest in Pistons’ forward Jerami Grant and the team may have offered multiple first-round picks for him, James Edwards of The Athletic relays. Edwards adds that he doesn’t envision a rival club giving Detroit the kind of package they would need to move the 26-year-old.
Pistons GM Troy Weaver recently said that no one on the team is untouchable in trade talks.
“Nobody is untouchable. … I learned, ‘Never say never,’ but there are some guys who are here to stay, so we’ll see,” Weaver told the media on Tuesday. “… I’ll say this guy is untouchable and then someone calls and offers four first-round picks. Strange things have happened.”
Grant would be a nice addition for Boston and his $19.05 million salary would fit into the franchise’s hefty trade exception ($28.5 million: Gordon Hayward).
Boston is lurking for upgrades, particularly on the wing and in the frontcourt. In addition to Grant, the team is also reportedly “high” on Kings vet Harrison Barnes and among the frontrunners for Andre Drummond should the Cavaliers actually trade him.
