NBA Injury Notes: Latest on Hayward, Kawhi, Other Missing Stars on Sunday

Chris Crouse by Chris Crouse
April 10, 2022
Reading Time: 4 mins read

The Hornets will be without Gordon Hayward for Sunday’s matchup vs. the Wizards as well as their time in the NBA’s play-in tournament because of left foot discomfort.

Hayward will be re-evaluated in two weeks, so unless the Hornets make it out of the play-in, it appears Hayward’s season is over.

Hornets‘ Gordon Hayward will miss the Play-In Tournament due to discomfort in his left foot -- he will be placed in a cast to immobilize his foot and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

More Injuries to Note Ahead of Sunday’s Matchups

  • Kawhi Leonard doesn’t appear close to returning to the Clippers’ lineup. The former Finals MVP hasn’t progressed past individual workouts with Ty Lue telling the media that Leonard has yet to participate in 3-on-3 work.

  • Nikola Jokic is questionable for Sunday’s matchup against Lakers on Sunday with a wrist injury. Aaron Gordon (hamstring), Will Barton (knee), and Monte Morris (elbow) are all questionable as well.

  • The Lakers will again be without LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook. Carmelo Anthony will also sit out Los Angeles’ final game of the regular season.

  • The Bulls are sitting multiple players in the final game of the season on Sunday. Nikola Vucevic (toe), Zach LaVine (rest/knee), DeMar DeRozan (rest), and Alex Caruso (back) will all miss the contest vs. the Timberwolves. In addition, Coby White is listed as doubtful (toe injury) for Sunday.

  • Both Joel Embiid and James Harden are questionable for the Sixers’ matchup with the Pistons.

  • The Pistons will be without Cory Joseph (back) and Marvin Bagley (hip) against the Sixers. Cade Cunningham is questionable for the contest.

  • The Magic will be missing Wendell Carter Jr. against the Heat in their final game of the season because of a wrist injury. Jalen Suggs (ankle) is out and Mo Bamba is questionable with a wrist injury as well. Orlando is 21-60 on the season, already securing the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
