The Miami Heat brought great vibes and great food to The Gathering Place at the Miami Rescue Mission on Tuesday. They served hot Thanksgiving meals alongside some very familiar faces from the franchise’s past and present.
Pat Riley and Alonzo Mourning were front and center, interacting with the community and serving meals and gift bags. Current Heat players were also in attendance. These players included Bam Adebayo, Kel’el Ware, Norman Powell, Dru Smith, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Keshad Johnson. All of these players served turkey, mashed potatoes, and other Thanksgiving goodness to members of the Miami community.
Adebayo, in great spirits, spoke on what Thanksgiving means to him and how important it is to touch the Miami community and give back. “It’s all about the possibility of inspiring. Having those small interactions with the community can change someone’s day for the better.”
All in all, this was a great celebration. The Heat organization understands that things are bigger than basketball. The organization does an excellent job with community outreach. The Thanksgiving celebration on Tuesday was yet another example of that. Shows just how ingrained the Miami Heat are in the Miami community. They are the heart and soul of Miami.
