Kyrie Irving hasn’t been able to play in home games this season because of New York City’s vaccine mandate.
However, that could change soon, as the city reportedly has a plan to phase out the mandate in the coming weeks (via Shams Charania of The Athletic).
Three of Brooklyn’s five games following the All-Star break are at home where Irving is ineligible to play.
More on the Nets
As we passed along earlier this week, Ben Simmons is ramping up his activity and it appears he could make his Nets debut relatively soon.
GM Sean Marks indicated that it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that the former No. 1 overall pick’s debut coincides with Kevin Durant‘s return over the next week.
“Depending on when they go, we got to see how they respond to days like today and we’ll go forward with this. It’s probably going to be tough playing in the next three or four days but we’ll see how it all plays out,” Marks said (h/t Chris Milholen of NetsDaily).
“I’m certainly not going to bet against either one of those guys.”
Simmons should fit in well alongside his new star teammates once the trio can all get on the floor at once, as our own Sameer Kumar detailed in FortyEightMinutes’ NBA Trade Deadline Wordle Reactions.
