PHILADELPHIA — Ben Simmons is not at Sixers Media Day.
The three-time All-Star might not be there throughout training camp as he looks for a trade from the franchise. However, despite Simmons’ current stance, the front office believes the two sides can come together
“We expect him back. We expect him to be a 76er,” team president Daryl Morey told FortyEightMinutes and reporters during his media day session.
“I think there’s a lot of hope.”
Morey compared the situation between Philadelphia and Simmons to that of Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay. All summer, there was speculation that Rodgers may not play for the team again, though, through the first three weeks of the NFL season, the QB has already led the Packers to several monumental wins.
Rodgers can leave Green Bay after the season, however. Simmons has four years remaining on his contract.
Perhaps the best-case scenario for the Sixers is convincing Simmons to play for the team now while figuring out an exit strategy that isn’t so sudden.
