The Cavaliers have worked out a group of prospects ahead of the 2021 NBA draft, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
Maryland guard/forward Aaron Wiggins, St. Joe’s point guard Jordan Hall, South Carolina guard/forward A.J. Lawson, Colorado point guard McKinley Wright IV, Wichita State combo guard Tyson Etienne, West Virginia power forward Derek Culver, UC Santa Barbara shooting guard JaQuori McLaughlin, Providence forward Zaccheus Darko-Kelly, and UT-Tyler guard Ansu Sesay all worked out for the organization.
The Cavalier only possess one pick in the draft: their own first-round pick. The selection has a 11.5% chance at landing at No. 1 in the Draft Lottery (you can find every team’s odds here).
More on the NBA Draft
- The Pistons recently worked out Daishen Nix among other prospects, per NBA journalist Keith Smith. Nix, who played for the G League Ignite this past season, has a chance to go in the second round of the upcoming draft. Detroit also worked out Pittsburgh’s Justin Champagnie, Toledo’s Spencer Littleson, UC Santa Barbara’s Jaquori McLaughlin, Florida State’s M.J. Walker and Seton Hall forward/center Sandro Mamukelashvili.
- The Warriors recently worked out six draft prospects, per Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area, Oregon small forward Eugene Omoruyi, Virginia small forward Sam Hauser, Arkansas point guard Jalen Tate, Austin Peay guard/forward Terry Taylor, and Houston small forward Justin Gorham and point guard Dejon Jarreau all took part in the workout. Golden State owns the No. 14 overall pick and they’ll receive Minnesota’s lottery pick should it fall outside the top-3.
- Scott Gleeson of USA Today has the Cavaliers taking Jonathan Kuminga with the No. 5 overall pick in his latest mock draft. We examined Kuminga’s fit alongside Isaac Okoro earlier this month.
- Jalen Green is among the draft candidates with the most upside and would be a sound selection for the Rockets, as our own Cole Sullivan explains in his latest Mock Draft. Green has been compared to Bradley Beal and Zach LaVine among other NBA players.
