For years, the Knicks strategy has been landing a star either via free agency or trade, and earlier this week, we learned that there’s optimism about the franchise obtaining one within the next 12 months.
ESPN’s Jay Williams believes that star will be Devin Booker.
“The name that Windy was talking about is Devin Booker,” the former Bulls point guard said. “He’s talking about Devin Booker. When we you look at the ties that exist within the Knicks organization, you have a guy like Leon Rose that is running the team. Devin Booker was one of his top clients.”
It’s worth noting that Booker leaving Phoenix isn’t likely at this time. He’s under contract through the 2023-24 season and with the addition of Chris Paul, the franchise is experiencing their best season since Steve Nash & his seven-seconds-or-less crew was disrupting the Western Conference (the Suns are 24-11 on the season, only behind the Jazz in the conference.
Still, the draw of New York is going to always keep everyone talking until they land a star. It’s just hard to imagine that Booker is that guy, especially if 12 months is the timeline.

- The Sixers’ top need is another playmaker and Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com proposes a three-way trade that would send Kyle Lowry to Philadelphia and Andre Drummond to the Raptors. Toronto would also receive Tyrese Maxey, and a pair of first-rounders, while Cleveland would acquire Danny Green, Mike Scott, Terrance Ferguson and a second-rounder in the hypothetical trade.
- While the Bulls would certainly like to be higher in the standings, the front office is certain that Billy Donovan is the right coach to get them to where they want to be, Donovan, Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times relays. “I think he’s doing a great job,” Karnisovas said of Donovan. “I’ve watched all the media availabilities by him… And I think the one question that’s always coming up is, ‘When do they meet? When do they talk?’ We talk every day. We talk before every practice, we spend time during practices, talk after practices, before games, after games, so the communication is always there. I expected that, and more so, there’s no misunderstandings from my side or his side.”
