The Wizards are signing guard Spencer Dinwiddie to a three-year, $62-million contract via a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Nets will receive a second-round pick and a draft-pick swap from the Wizards in the agreement. The move should also create an $11.5MM trade exception for Brooklyn.
There had been chatter that the Dinwiddie deal would be folded into the Russell Westbrook trade but it appears that is going to be the case.
As part of the multi-team deal, the Wizards will trade Chandler Hutchison and a second-round pick to the Spurs. In all, it will be a five team deal with the Spurs, Lakers, Wizards, Pacers (via the Aaron Holiday/ No. 22 overall pick trade), and Nets involved.
