WASHINGTON DC — Rumors about Spencer Dinwiddie joining the Wizards continue to swirl but acquiring him won’t be easy.
The Wizards are operating over the salary cap as free agency begins, which means if they are going to offer Dinwiddie something over the mid-level exception, it’ll have to be via sign-and-trade and Brooklyn will have to take some salary back. The Nets are reportedly hesitant to do so, requiring Washington to send back an asset in order to take on Kyle Kuzma or Montrezl Harrell.
Brooklyn might be willing to help facilitate a deal if the Wizards are able to take back DeAndre Jordan‘s contract ($9.88 million this season and next), according to The Athletic’s John Hollinger, who cautions that he’s heard conflicting information from different sources. It’s possible that the Nets and Wizards may have to find a third team to get involved in order to make the deal occur.

- While it’s clear that Bradley Beal isn’t going anywhere, the Warriors still have eyes for the 28-year-old, Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area relays. There’s only one player who Golden State is willing to give up their collection of young players (James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody) for and while Andrews’ source didn’t give a name, the scribe has no doubts that it’s Washington’s All-NBA guard.
- Washington has some interest in Alex Caruso, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic. Caruso is expected to garner a contract close to the full mid-level exception. The Wizards are thin at the point guard position with only Aaron Holiday earmarking a roster spot at the moment, though that is expected to change as free agency rolls on.
- The Wizards had interest in bringing back Alex Len prior to acquiring Harrell in the Westbrook deal, Chase Hughes of NBC Sports hears. With Thomas Bryant not expected to be ready for the start of the season and Daniel Gafford‘s foul trouble issues, Len is seemingly a candidate for some sort of minimum, non-guaranteed deal closer to training camp should the Maryland product still be available at that time.
