San Antonio Spurs assistant Will Hardy is a candidate for the Oklahoma City Thunder coaching vacancy, sources told Amico Hoops.
Hardy, 32, has spent his entire career, beginning with his time as an assistant video coordinator in 2012. He was promoted to video coordinator a year later and served in that role until 2015.
He has been with the Spurs for 10 seasons overall, including four as an assistant under Gregg Popovich. Hardy has interviewed for several other openings across the league over the past two years.
The Thunder’s coaching search has been relatively quiet in comparison to other teams. But general manager Sam Presti is casting a wide net in his effort to replace Billy Donovan, now coach of the Chicago Bulls.
Donovan was hired straight from the University of Florida and it is believed an accomplished college coach will again be among the possibilities for the Thunder.
Hardy may also be on the radar of head of basketball operations David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans.
