Speculation around LaMarcus Aldridge‘s next team continues to swirl with each game that San Antonio plays without him. We reported last week that Miami was a frontrunner for the big man’s services and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype passes along additional details on the two sides.
Miami has dangled Avery Bradley, Maurice Harkless, and Meyers Leonard in order to find a match salary-wise for Aldridge, per Scotto. The club would also have to include someone like Chris Silva or KZ Okpala in addition to draft capital to entice the Spurs.
Several other teams have interest in the former No. 2 overall pick. The Celtics—with their $28.5 million trade exception—could join the Aldridge sweepstakes, though it was previously reported that they may use their trade exception in the offseason.
More on the Spurs
- DeMar DeRozan (personal) did not suit up in the Spurs-Sixers game on Sunday in Philadelphia. Coach Gregg Popovich told FortyEightMinutes and other media in attendance that the wing simply did not make the trip. The Spurs have received trade inquiries on several of their veterans, including DeRozan.
- Popovich, when asked about Ben Simmons, admitting that if the former No. 1 pick added a jump shot, it would help. However, he didn’t really care for the question. “He’s so elite already, who gives a damn if he can’t shoot,” Pop said.
