The Sixers started the James Harden era strong but have now lost three straight games with former MVP. The team isn’t getting frazzled, though there is an urgency to put it all together before the postseason begins.
“It’s going to be a process, we need to be stepping in the right direction come playoff time for sure, it takes time, it takes time,” Tyrese Maxey said after the team’s loss to the Nuggets.
The Sixers’ next game is on Wednesday vs. Cleveland and the team will try to use the shootaround to get more in sync, particularly on the defensive end.
“We’ve practiced two or three real times with James [Harden] and looking at our schedule it’s going to be hard to sneak a practice in there,” Maxey continued. “So shootaround come Wednesday versus Cleveland is going to be extremely important.because you only have an hour and a half and have a game that night so you have to be extremely attentive and listen to what the coaches have to tell us about the transition defense and on the defensive end and listening to it and being very locked in on the offensive end running through our sets, getting into our actions and getting guys the ball where they need it.”
Sixers Co-Favorites to Win Title in East
Despite the losing streak, Oddsmakers remain optimistic about the Sixers’ title chances with PointsBet giving Philadelphia +650 odds (tied with Brooklyn to lead all Eastern Conference teams).
Philadelphia’s odds haven’t moved since this time last week despite the 3-game losing streak. The Nets, however, moved up in oddsmakers’ minds, as they were +800 to win the title prior to the win over Philadelphia last Thursday.
