The Los Angeles Lakers after a slow start to the game found a way to get back in the win column in Orlando. The Lakers defeated the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center in Orlando 114-103. Dennis Schroder led the way for the Lakers with 21 points in total. He also hit 13 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Schroder also had 10 assists and 2 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Lakers Head Coach Frank Vogel spoke on Schroder’s maturation as the Point Guard for this Lakers team.
“He’s really growing with his floor-general mentality and running the team,” coach Frank Vogel said of Schroder, who made 6 of 7 shots in the fourth quarter and scored or assisted on 16 of LA’s final 18 points. “That’s why we feel like (Schroder’s emergence) is going to be a silver lining. It was accelerated. Having ‘Bron out, there’s a lot of silver linings and this is one of them, seeing him grow.”
Anthony Davis was in his third game back after missing thirty games due to his calf/leg injury. Davis made his presence felt with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in 31 minutes of play. Having his minutes restriction lifted allowed Davis to be able to get his feel back as the game went on. He hit a dagger at the end of the game to put the Lakers up for good. Kyle Kuzma scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. Andre Drummond 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Montrezl Harrell stepped up huge once again off the bench with 18 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes of playing. The Lakers are beginning to step up big as LeBron James is on the brink of his return to the lineup due to his high ankle sprain. They look to get things rolling at the right time as the Playoffs approach.
The Lakers head to Washington D.C. to play their next game on Wednesday, 4/28. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm Eastern/ 4:30 pm Pacific.
