The Warriors had a trade deadline offer on the table from the Nets for Kelly Oubre but ultimately turned it down, Marc Stein of the New York Times reports in his latest newsletter.
Brooklyn would have sent Spencer Dinwiddie, who has a $12.3 million player option for next season, to Golden State as part of the deal.
The Warriors opted to decline the offer, despite how well Dinwiddie might fit on the team once he’s healthy next season. Oubre, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, might not have a long-term future with the organization, though the Warriors didn’t want to deal him for a player who could not help them in their goal of making the postseason this year,
More NBA Rumors
- ESPN’s Bobby Marks would be surprised if the Knicks are aggressive in their future contract negotiations with Mitchell Robinson, who is currently sidelined with a broken foot. Marks (via Marc Berman of The New York Post) compares the situation to Christian Wood‘s in Detroit, where the big man scored what appears to be a team-friendly three-year, $41 million contract in free agency last offseason. Somewhere in the range of three-years, $30 million for Robinson, could be a starting point for the Knicks when the center is eligible for an extension this offseason.
- The Mavericks have interest in Robinson should he reach free agency (either restricted or unrestricted), Berman writes in that same piece. Dallas has been rumored to be on the market for a center who would fit alongside Kristaps Porzingis.
- Berman adds that the Knicks are looking for a center on the free agent market with Robinson sidelined, though the franchise values their chemistry and would like someone who would fit in “seamlessly.” Hassan Whiteside, who is a buyout candidate with the Kings, may not be a fit.
