Eric Gordon is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a groin strain, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The shooting guard sustained the injury during Thursday’s loss to the Kings.
Gordon may have been a candidate to be traded ahead of the deadline given that the franchise is expected to have a “fire sale.” The 32-year-old has three years remaining on this contract after this season (the final year is non-guaranteed, however).
While Gordon is likely to stay in Houston, teammate P.J. Tucker is likely to be traded as the team is working with the veteran big man on finding him a new home.

- Zach Lowe of ESPN.com believes the rookie scale extension negotiations between Michael Porter Jr. and Nuggets this summer will begin with a “max or nothing” stance from MPJ’s camp. Denver appears leary of taking on long-term salary in trades and the future negotiations between them and Porter may be why.
- What do the Grizzlies need at the trade deadline? Chris Herrington of the Daily Memphian believes star power is Memphis’s only glaring need, adding that he believes the Griz should consolidate their talent even if it brings back a player who only approaches All-Star status.
- The Timberwolves may have two building blocks on their hands in Jaden McDaniels and Jaylen Nowell, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic writes. Both players are seeing run in new coach Chris Finch’s system.
