The New Orleans Pelicans are trying to trade shooting guard J.J. Redick to either the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers or Boston Celtics, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Redick, point guard Lonzo Ball and point guard Eric Bledsoe have all been at the center of Pelicans trade rumors over the past week.
Redick, 34, has bounced around the NBA for most of his career and reportedly is hoping to land in the Atlantic Division, or northeast, if there is indeed a trade. He is averaging 7.9 points, his lowest number in almost 12 years.
He would also be an easy piece to move, as he has a $13.1 million expiring contract and could help a contender. So it’s not so much if Redick will be moved, but when and where.
Obviously, Pelicans head of basketball operations David Griffin will hold out for the best deal, but he also has a reputation for servicing players as best he can. If Redick wants to go northeast, that is likely where Griffin will try to send him.
