It appears the Denver Nuggets don’t intend to just stand pat this offseason after reaching the Western Conference Finals.
Instead, head of basketball operations Tim Connelly is likely to explore some moves and look for ways to improve. One of those moves may involve moving up in the draft.
According to Mike Singer of The Denver Post, the Nuggets are diving into the possibility of acquiring a top-10 draft pick. They currently own the No. 22 overall selection.
The Atlanta Hawks (sixth overall), Washington Wizards (ninth) and Boston Celtics (14th) are all believed to have made their picks available. So perhaps the Nuggets may turn to those teams.
“Among the high-end lottery picks, it’s unknown who the Nuggets might be targeting with a higher selection,” Singer wrote. “There’s an argument to be made for Florida State sophomore Devin Vassell’s perimeter shooting, Auburn freshman Isaac Okoro’s defensive acumen or Iowa State guard Tyrese Haliburton’s playmaking ability.”
The draft will take place Nov. 18 (a week from Thursday), with the window to make trades expected to open a few days before that.
Should the Nuggets be unable to move into the top 10, they’re confident they can land one of the players on their draft board at No. 22, Singer reported.
