Goran Dragic opted to sign with the Nets after negotiating a buyout with the Spurs, though the point guard said six contenders had reached out with interest. Being able to play for Steve Nash (whom he played alongside previously in Phoenix) as well as getting to play with the Nets’ stars were major reasons why he chose to go with Brooklyn.
“To finish my career with (Nash) would be awesome, Dragic said while addressing the media for the first time as a Brooklyn Net.
Dragic won’t yet make his debut as the Nets take on the Celtics on Thursday night. Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Joe Harris are all also out vs. Boston.

3 Betting Trends
- Boston comes into the contest, winning nine of their last 10 games (we previously detailed how the Celtics’ defense and point differential were signaling how they could be an underrated title contender).
- Brooklyn has only covered the spread in three of their last 22 games.
- Six of Brooklyn’s past seven games have gone over their total.
More Nets Notes
- New York City reportedly has plans to phase out its vaccine mandate in the coming weeks, which would allow Kyrie Irving to play in home games for Brooklyn. The point guard remains ineligible to do so as of this writing.
- It’s not entirely clear when Ben Simmons will make his debut for the Nets nor when Kevin Durant will return to the court. GM Sean Marks indicated that while it might be a long shot, he wouldn’t bet against either player returning within the next week. For what it’s worth, coach Steve Nash indicated that Durant is “probably closer” than Simmons.
