Victor Oladipo appears willing to give Houston a chance despite reports of him still eyeing other destinations, as Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle writes
“If things work out, if I’m happy,” Oladipo said, adding that he’s “blessed and fortunate” to be in Houston. “Essentially, it’s like a business plan. You have to go through every aspect of the business plan, kind of figure out if you want to invest in it.”
Both sides are evaluating the fit, as the shooting guard will be in line for a lucrative contract when he’s a free agent at the end of the season. Feigen adds that Rockets coach Stephen Silas has a high option of Oladipo, something that factored into the trade.

- The Rockets are interested in trading P.J. Tucker and according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the franchise is looking for three second-rounders in exchange for the forward. The Wolves reportedly have eyes for Tucker, though there’s no word on whether they believe in Houston’s asking price.
- Houston had wanted Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey, and three first-round picks from Philadelphia for Harden, O’Connor hears. The Sixers were prepared to surrender Simmons but didn’t want to part with Maxey and ultimately felt the Rockets’ asking price was too high.
- The Nets landed Harden but the Sixers were in the mix until the very end. The franchise believed they were close to a deal and reached out to the agents for Simmons and Matisse Thybulle to inform them of a pending trade, Brian Lewis of The New York Post reports.
- The Rockets had multiple “big” offers from teams for Harden that weren’t on his wish list, according to Kelly Iko and Sam Amick of The Athletic. Boston, Portland, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Miami, and Milwaukee reportedly comprised that list.
- The Celtics were in the mix until late in the process, per the two scribes. That report contradicts Danny Ainge’s statements last week where he admitted the two sides had talks but not recently.
