Kyle Kuzma owns a championship ring from his time with the Lakers and he’s picked up a thing or two playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Through his first week of camp with the Wizards, he sees some similarities between Bradley Beal and the two Lakers stars, as he tells FortyEightMinutes and other media (via zoom).
“Obviously when you’ve got a guy that scores 30 points every night, from the outside looking in, you’re thinking he’s not really a willing passer,” Kuzma said when asked what has surprised him about Beal early on.
“He makes the right play and that’s really important for winning basketball. I see it all the time, especially playing with LeBron and AD, if they wanted to they could come down the court and score every single time if they wanted to. But understanding your teammates and whatever the right play is in front of you, that’s the most important thing. And he does that.”
Beal’s passing ability gets overlook league-wide, though he really started to develop that part of his game entering the 2019-20 season. Beal began the campaign without John Wall by his side because of the point guard’s injuries and averaged a career-high 6.1 assists per game. His assist figure (4.4 assists per game) took a step back last season with Russell Westbrook on the team, though the playmaking skill is nonetheless present within the 28-year-old All-Star.
