The Wizards have fallen to 11-6 on the year, losing to the Hornets at the Capital One Arena by a score of 109-103.
Washington went cold against LaMelo & Co. to close the first half and the team took their time heating back in up in the third, finding themselves down 17 points. And while the Wizards roared back to make it a game, their efforts weren’t enough to land the W.
Hornets Key Contributions
- LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier combined for 60 points with the latter going 11-for-19 from the field, including a dagger from three to put a stamp on the contest.
- Miles Bridges played a game-high 41 minutes. During the final minutes of the contest, he attempted a tomahawk dunk that would have put an exclamation point on the Hornets win; he missed, however, though Charlotte got the rebound in what was an ultra-important possession.
- Former Wizard Kelly Oubre took seven shots, making three (seven points).
Wizards Key Contributions
- The Wizards again played 10 players with Beal (18 points on 5-for-18 shooting) receiving a team-high 39 minutes.
- Montrezl Harrell had another efficient game, going 10-for-13 from the field on his way to 24 points off the bench. Harrell had 18 boards and just continues to be a force in the paint for Washington.
- The Wizards out-rebounded the Hornets 65-36.
- Shooting from three was the real issue for Washington on Monday night. The team made just nine of 36 attempts from behind the arc.
- The Wizards were a 4-point favorite entering the contest. This is just the second time in the past 20 games where they lost as a betting favorite.
