The Spurs and LaMarcus Aldridge have agreed to part ways and the franchise will look to trade the 7-time All-Star.
Some around the league consider the Heat as a frontrunner for Aldridge, a rival front office executive tells FortyEightMinutes. Miami has a glaring need in the frontcourt and it’s no secret that the club is open to pairing Bam Adebayo with a traditional big man with range (they’ve been linked to Nikola Vucevic recently).
“Don’t expect the Spurs to trade him within the Western Conference,” the executive tells FortyEightMinutes.com.
The Bulls are another team to watch. Chicago has eyes on making a playoff push and it’s extremely unlikely that the team trades Zach LaVine before the trade deadline. However, some around the league believe a Lauri Markkanen trade is a real possibility, though that could happen in another trade and not necessarily in a bigger Aldridge deal with San Antonio.
Swapping Otto Porter Jr. for Aldridge is an option if the Bulls and Spurs work out an agreement. The former Wizards wing is garnering interest from around the league (the Warriors were among the teams looking at Porter).
