As a former teammate, Channing Frye has a pretty good idea what motivates LeBron James. And Frye thinks James will be particularly motivated entering Game 4 of the Finals.
After all, James and the Lakers are coming off a Game 3 loss to the Miami Heat — a game in which Heat star Jimmy Butler owned the court and James and Anthony Davis played, well, less-than-stellar.
“I expect him to come out and try and score 60,” Frye said in an interview with NBA TV.
Frye was a teammate of James from 2016-18 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That included the Cavs’ lone championship run. So Frye probably has a good idea of James’ mindset and motivation after a loss.
James and his Lakers still lead the Finals by a 2-1 count, with Game 4 set for Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST.
“We’re not concerned,” James said after Sunday’s loss. “We know we can play a lot better. We have another opportunity to take a commanding lead on Tuesday. You relish that opportunity.”
