Ben Simmons‘ future remains in the balance and the Cavaliers are among the teams eyeing the former No. 1 overall pick, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.
Philadelphia is looking for an All-Star caliber player in return for Simmons and while there have been a plethora of rumors surrounding stars like Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal, it’s unclear if a player of that caliber is truly on the market.
The Cavaliers would likely need a third team to get involved in a deal for Simmons, as I recently explained on Cleveland19 News. Cleveland has a bevy of young prospects and the No. 3 overall pick is desirable around the league. However, those aren’t the kind of assets that will help Philadelphia achieve its goal of winning a championship at the end of the 2021/22 season.
The Sixers haven’t made any serious traction for a deal and the front office can afford to remain patient.
“I think Daryl is just waiting for the Dame situation to explode,” said one team official told Fischer.
The Timberwolves, Pacers, Kings, and Raptors also have an interest in acquiring Simmons. Executives from around the league believe Simmons would fit in well on their respective teams as a play-making forward rather than a point guard (the position he has played for much of his time in Philadelphia).
