Apparently, the No. 4 overall pick may not be good enough for the Chicago Bulls and new team executive VP Arturus Karnisovas.
For all the talk of the Minnesota Timberwolves (No. 1) and Golden State Warriors (No. 2) wanting to move down … well, they will need trade partners if that’s something they truly want to do.
And according to Tom Haberstroh of NBA Sports, the Bulls may be trying to move up with their sights set on a prospect who could offer immediate help.
“I think (Karnisovas) might move up because I think No. 1 with Minnesota and No. 2 (with Golden State) is going to be readily available,” Haberstroh said on the Bulls Talk Podcast with K.C. Johnson. “I would be surprised if you didn’t see Charlotte (at No. 3) or Chicago move up in the draft.”
This wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise.
Karnisovas clearly is working on a fresh start for the Bulls, already hiring Billy Donovan as coach and Marc Eversley as general manager. Reports suggest he may be trying to do more than just move up in the draft, too. He could also look to shake up the roster by trading some veterans.
Basically, nothing is off the table as Karnisovas is looking for a quick turnaround in culture and a winning mindset. But like everyone, he realizes that talent and finding the right fit go a long way when trying to accomplish those goals.
Georgia shooting guard Anthony Edwards, Memphis center James Wiseman and well-traveled point guard LaMelo Ball are expected to be the top three players chosen, in no particular order, in the upcoming draft. After that, it’s anyone’s guess.
So in this draft, trying to move up to the top three would make good sense.
The draft is scheduled for Nov. 18.
