Kyle Kuzma hit a driving layup with 6.9 seconds left to lift the Lakers over the Rockets. When he hit the layup that gave the Lakers a 123-122 lead. The Lakers won the game 124-122.
As a result the Lakers still have their hopes alive of avoiding being in the 7th seed in the West and avoiding the play-in. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis both out against Houston, this win was a huge one. The Lakers have now won three straight games for the first time since March. Kuzma scored 19 points on 8 out of 12 shooting from the field. Kuzma also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 7 assists. Kuzma spoke on the state of the team and their mindset.
“It is time to tighten up the screws and get back on track,” said Kuzma, who finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. “We need to continue to play the right way and with each other, which will bode well when we are at full strength.”
Andre Drummond scored 20 points and 10 rebounds. Talen Horton-Tucker scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists. Montrezl Harrell scored 16 points off of the bench as well.
It was also ring night as well. The Lakers were finally able to see Championship Banner #17 raised to the rafters. During the presentation both LeBron James and Anthony Davis reiterated the fact that the Lakers are going to win back-to-back championships. As long as they can stay healthy they have a great shot.
