The Lakers didn’t make a major move at the trade deadline, though coach Frank Vogel is happy with his current team, as he told FortyEightMinutes and other media in Los Angeles prior to the Sixers-Lakers game on Thursday. The former Pacers coach revealed that he isn’t too involved with the trade decisions that the front office makes.
“Under five percent of my effort has been on the trade deadline,” Vogel said.
Vogel is aware of the trades across the league, however, including the Clippers’ acquisition of Rajon Rondo. The point guard remains “like family” to the Lakers, Vogel explains while adding that he wishes Rondo the best except when he’s playing against the Lakers.

- Kelly Oubre, who survived getting traded at the deadline, reiterated his desire to stay with the Warriors long-term when speaking with reporters on Thursday, However, he didn’t sound too keen on moving to the bench when asked about doing so for Klay Thompson‘s eventual return. “I can’t speak for the future, brother,” Oubre said to ESPN’s Nick Friedell. “You keep asking me questions like I’m a psychic. But at the end of the day, I’m growing, I’m honing in on my skills in this league and I can offer a lot more than coming off the bench, so at the end of the day, this is my life. I can’t tell the future. Only God can.”
- Current Sixers and former Lakers champions Danny Green and Dwight Howard received their championship rings in Los Angeles on Thursday night. After the contest, Green, who won a championship with the Raptors in 2019, revealed that he still doesn’t have possession of his ring from Toronto. His contest in Toronto during the 2019-20 season was canceled due to the pandemic and of course, the Raptors are not playing in Toronto this season.
