The Pistons just upset the Sixers on Monday, though if the franchise opts to make deals with the future in mind, veterans like Derrick Rose could be on the move. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that rival clubs are already examining the situation in Detroit and that the Knicks and Clippers are among the teams interested in acquiring Rose.
Rose played under Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau when the two were in Chicago together earlier this decade. New York has no long-term answer at the point guard position, though Elfrid Payton currently mans the starting spot.
Rose, who turned 32 before the season, has already missed several games this year because of a sore knee and scheduled maintenance, though he’d be an upgrade on Payton if he can be counted on to remain on the floor.
The former MVP would also be a welcomed addition in the Clippers’ backcourt. Patrick Beverley, who’s currently out with a knee injury, Reggie Jackson and Lou Williams continue to man duties at the point, though none of the three are close to sporting a league-average player efficiency rating this season (Rose is well above it at 18.0).
