The Los Angeles Lakers are hitting their stride right now. They flew into Oklahoma City and handled their business again, winning 128-99 in a game that was never really close. They have now started the regular season with seven-straight road victories. That is a team record. LeBron James was reflective of this accomplishment.
“We just have a bunker mentality on the road, just us,” James said. “But obviously, it’s even more just us because of the restrictions, COVID, everything that’s going on. So we’ve come together even closer.”
Whatever works just works. The Lakers have things rolling and cooking right now. They are going on the road into other teams’ arenas and beating them easily. They are also doing so in back to back nights. Or in this case, the Lakers just played 3 games in 4 nights. Some teams would be tired and maybe give up a game or two. Not the Lakers, they see the light at the end of the tunnel. The team is 100% focused on defending their 2020 NBA Title.
“It’s all about execution and your level of focus,” James said. “You’ve got to be able to at times build up your own energy. Like tonight, we come off a back-to-back, three in four nights. For us to come off a back-to-back in Houston last night, getting in late to OKC and coming out to an arena with no fans, you’ve got to prosper your own energy from your group, yourself.”
