We’re months from NBA free agency but it’s never too early to look ahead (especially if your team disappointed at the 2024 trade deadline).
Below is the list of centers who will be available on the free agent market this summer:
Top Centers Available
The restricted free agents at the center position include Precious Achiuwa (Knicks), Sandro Mamukelashvili (Spurs), and James Wiseman (Pistons).
While none of the three are locks to return to their incumbent teams, we’ve carved them out of the list, as NBA history has shown that restricted free agents are overwhelming more likely to re-sign with their incumbent teams than unrestricted free agents are.
We’ve also kept Thomas Bryant (Heat), Drew Eubanks (Suns), Jaxson Hayes (Lakers), Jalen Smith (Pacers), and Richaun Holmes (Wizards) off the list. All five have player options on their contract for next season and can become a free agent only by turning the option down.
The list of unrestricted free agents below includes three players who were traded during the season.
- Kelly Olynyk was dealt from Utah to the Raptors in a trade that gave Toronto another piece of what should be Canada’s most competitive Men’s National Team during this summer’s Olympics.
- Xavier Tillman, who was just traded from Memphis to Boston, has played 62 percent of his minutes at the center spot this season before suffering a knee ailment. He’s expected to play more of the five whenever he makes his Celtics debut.
- Mike Muscala was traded to Detroit in the Wizards’ acquisition of Marvin Bagley.
The list also contains a pair of players who are currently free agents.
