We’re over a third of the way through the NBA season and it’s time to take a glimpse at the 2024 NBA championship odds.
Boston—projected as the team with the most regular season wins at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign—is considered the favorite by oddsmakers. For what it’s worth, the Celtics and the Bucks are the only two teams with shorter odds than the Nuggets, who won the title last season.
2024 NBA Championship Odds
Noteworthy Odds?
- Sixers: +1000: After trading James Harden, the Sixers were expected to make an additional move to increase their chances. The latest trade rumors surrounding the team indicate that Philadelphia is not expected to pursue a star ahead of the trade deadline but instead make moves that optimize their current core.
- Clippers: +1200: Harden’s new team is behind only five teams, including his former one, with +1200 odds to win the title. There was plenty of skepticism about how the former MVP would impact the Clippers, though oddsmakers never waivered in deeming Los Angeles as a top contender.
- Suns +1000: There’s been a lot of noise about Phoenix struggling and even some silly rumblings that Kevin Durant should leave. Oddsmakers are likely laughing at the rashness of NBA Twitter reacting to December games like it’s the playoffs.
- Heat +3500: Miami made a surprise Finals run last season, yet again silencing doubters. Oddsmakers don’t appear to believe in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to produce a repeat. Miami is a slight favorite to win the Southeast Division (-185 on DraftKings) and an overwhelming favorite to make the playoffs (-1200).
