The Cavaliers own three picks in the upcoming draft, though Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com hears that the club is unlikely to add three rookies to next season’s roster. Cleveland holds the No. 14, No. 39, and No. 56 selection and it’s likely that at least one of the picks is used for a draft-and-stash candidate.
Cleveland hasn’t zeroed in on a specific player with any of their picks. Given the team’s rise in the Eastern Conference ranks, however, it clearly doesn’t make sense for the franchise to add multiple rookies to the mix.
No. 14 Plans
In our pre-lottery mock draft, we explored the Cavaliers taking Mark Williams with the No. 14 overall pick to fortify the center position in Cleveland. Yet, most mock drafts out there have the franchise taking a win. Fedor listed Malaki Branham (Ohio State), Tari Eason (LSU), and Ochai Agbaji (Kansas) as three candidates to go in that spot.
