The Heat took care of business in Game 1 of their series with the Sixers, winning 106-92. Miami looked dominant for stretches playing the Embiid-less Sixers and the franchise could have more help on the way in Game 2.
There’s a good chance that Kyle Lowry, who missed the past three playoff games with a hamstring injury, suits up on Wednesday night.
Philadelphia will again be without Embiid in Miami, though there’s hope that the big man will be able to play in either Game 3 or 4. DeAndre Jordan started in Game 1 for the MVP candidate and he owned a +/- of -22 during his 17 minutes on the court.
More NBA Injury Notes
- Devin Booker continues to work his way back from the hamstring injury that forced him to miss three games of the Suns’ opening-round series. However, it appears that the shooting guard is back to his normal allotment of minutes, as he played 38 in Game 1 vs. the Mavericks (23 points, nine rebounds, eight assists).
- Desmond Bane is questionable for Game 2 of the Warriors-Grizzlies series on Tuesday night with a back injury. It seems the shooting guard suffered the injury during Memphis’ Game 1 loss.
- Marcus Smart is listed as questionable for Boston’s Game 2 against Milwaukee on Wednesday night. The Defensive Player of the Year is dealing with a quad contusion. Coach Ime Udoka indicated that whether or not Smart plays could be determined by how the point guard feels.
- Jalen Suggs underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right ankle, per the Magic. The point guard is expected to make a full recovery before the start of training camp. “In assessing Jalen’s right ankle at the conclusion of the season, and consulting with multiple doctors, we came to the determination to undergo this preventative measure,” said president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman. “We feel by addressing this now Jalen can still have a productive summer leading into training camp.”
