ORLANDO — The Sixers pulled out a win during overtime in Orlando, though the 116-114 victory left lingering question marks for a team that has real title aspirations. For the Magic, it wasn’t the outcome they had hoped for but the process was encouraging.
“Our guys are gaining executing experience and our guys did a great job down the stretch,” coach Jamahl Mosley told FortyEightMinutes while adding that ultimately it would have only been better if the team could have pulled out the win.
Former Magic forward Tobias Harris was impressed with how the Orlando came out on Sunday night.
“The whole Orlando team has a lot of young talent, and a lot of great pieces, for sure,” Harris told the media on Sunday.
WCJ Shares Insight on Stopping Joel Embiid
Wendell Carter Jr. continuously battled Joel Embiid in the post, holding him to just nine made field goals on 28 attempts. Carter shared some insight on how to slow down the MVP candidate.
“One way you slow him down is making him work on the other end,” Carter Jr. told FortyEightMinutes and other media in Orlando after the game. The big man added that his personal confidence is at all-time high and battles against the best in the league contribute to that.
Carter finished the game with 23 points (10-for-19 shooting) while adding 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Sixers Fans Traveling Well
The vibe initially felt more like a home game for the Sixers with much of the stadium cheering for Philadelphia throughout. The Sixers fans booed Markelle Fultz and other Magic players, though it did seem like the booing woke some of Orlando fans up as the crowd erupted in spurts through the second half and overtime as the Magic nearly pulled off the upset.
More Magic Contributions
- Fultz had eight points and 11 assists in 19 minute soff the bench. He could see more time with Jalen Suggs potentially missing time with an ankle injury.
- Gary Harris scored nine points off the bench (all triples) while adding three rebounds. He used all six of his fouls while likely contributed to him only seeing 18 minutes.
