Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul will now be known as Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul.
That’s because the Suns and Thunder have finalized a trade that will send Paul to Phoenix, as first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
In return, the Thunder will receive forward Kelly Oubre Jr., point guard Ricky Rubio, shooting guard Ty Jerome, guard Jalen Lecque and a 2022 first-round pick, Wojnarowski reported. The Suns are also receiving Thunder shooting guard Abdel Nadar as part of the deal.
Paul, 35, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career — leading the Thunder to an inspirational run to the playoffs in a season in which everyone assumed they would tank. But appears Thunder GM Sam Presti is starting the rebuild, after it was almost accidentally delayed for a year.
Paul now joins shooting guard Devin Booker and center Deandre Ayton as part of a core that the Suns GM James Jones is building for a run to the playoffs. The Suns went 8-0 on the Disney campus after the NBA restart, just missing the postseason.
