The NBA season is underway and the league’s buzz continues. Let’s get you caught up on some of the latest rumors and rumblings from the association:
- Jonathan Kuminga, who is a possible trade target on the Warriors, is expected to be active on Thursday for the first time this season (via Anthony Slater of The Athletic). Kuminga has been recovering from a knee injury.
- Ricky Rubio wasn’t initially thrilled about the trade for the Cavaliers, Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com reveals on his latest podcast. Rubio signed with the Suns back in 2019 and a year later, the team dealt him to the Wolves. One year after that, he’s in Cleveland and it’s possible that it could be a long-term home for the point guard.
- Michael Scotto of HoopsHype recently examined the top trade candidates around the league and identified Cedi Osman as the player on the Cavaliers. Rubio and Kevin Love are other obvious names who could be dealt, though Osman (with a contract that runs through the 2023-24 season) may actually be key to bringing Cleveland a real asset in return.
- Former coach Jim Boylen believes that Russell Westbrook should be coming off the bench, he said on NBA TV’s GameTime (h/t NBA Analysis Network). In two games without LeBron James, Westbrook is averaging 26.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game. Perhaps the Lakers could look to stagger both of their minutes when each are healthy.
- The Bulls will be without Patrick Williams for the remainder of the season. Williams, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, dislocated his wrist earlier in the week.
