The Pacers intend to be “very active” leading up to the trade deadline as the front office is open to the idea of a rebuild, we recently relayed.
With the Cavaliers well ahead of schedule, they could look to add another scorer, and that could come in the name of Caris LeVert.
LeVert has a history with Jarrett Allen during their days with the Nets, as both had success running the pick-and-roll together.
The Pickerington, Ohio native is exactly the type of scoring guard the Cavs could use, as he knows when to slow it down, probe and look for his shot in the mid-range or get to the basket.
With all of the gravity he’ll attract, he’ll attract double teams which would free up Allen and Evan Mobley to do damage inside.
Isaac Okoro would likely be the centerpiece of any trade, but Okoro’s offense hasn’t developed at the rate Cleveland hoped, and he may be better off in a rebuilding environment.
Cedi Osman‘s salary would likely have to be used as a filler, and the Cavs could add a protected first-round pick to sweeten the deal.
LeVert is a jack of all trades offensively as a swingman in this league, and with the weapons the Cavs possess, he’ll fit right in. He’s a great immediate replacement for Collin Sexton, but assuming Sexton returns next season, LeVert would thrive as the team’s sixth man.
