Can Cleveland Win Again?
The Browns are 1-0 behind Jacoby Brissett and a strong running game, though they nearly lost the Week 1 contest to Baker Mayfield as the former Clevelander made his Panthers debut.
Cleveland was one of the more run-heavy teams in Week 1, as Pat Kerrane of NBC Sports explained. Only the Giants, Bears, and 49ers had a lower PROE.
The Jets lost in Week 1 with Joe Flacco throwing a ton but according to Kerrane, there are signs that could shift.
If going more conservative is the plan, New York should be able to execute it without issue. The Browns rolled out an ultra run-heavy approach against the Panthers, which fits our expectations for the Brissett offense. The Jets may open things up again, but it’s more likely they’ll accept the Browns’ invitation to grind out a close game.
Joe Flacco wasn’t good against the Ravens, but he wasn’t abysmal either…
There’s a good chance that both Michael Carter and Breece Hall see plenty of action for the 0-1 Jets in Week 1. This could be a low-scoring game if it heads that way.
Checking In On Former Ohio State WR Garrett Wilson
The Jets utilized the No. 10 overall pick on Wilson in the 2022 draft and in Week 1, he didn’t see a full allotment of playing time. New York used Wilson on just 56% of dropbacks, per Kerrane. Corey Davis saw 68% while Elijah Moore saw 89% usage.
Implied Point Totals
- Browns: 23.0
- Jets: 16.5
